Owner Carol Sullivan has created the quintessential boutique vineyard in Mattituck.

Tastings are held by appointment only in Gramercy Vineyard’s rustic barn, which was restored and relocated from behind the Mattituck post office. The barn was once part of the blacksmith shop.

The vineyard’s two farms are both over 100 years old and all of the buildings located on the property have been fully restored.

When you come to Gramercy, you are also coming to Carol’s home, where she lives adjacent to the vineyard.

Small groups are able to walk the vineyard and are welcome to spend the day or stop by for a tasting. Outside food is allowed.

The owner also gives tours assisted by her two terriers.

Hours of operation: 11 a.m.-6 p.m.

Year established: Planted 1996-97, Mattebella-owned since 2005.

Varieties: chardonnay, merlot, cabernet franc, cabernet sauvignon

Mattebella Vineyards is a small family farm, located in the State of New York’s oldest town, on the eastern end of Long Island. Our single vineyard is a gently sloping 22-acre parcel of land. Our vineyard has predominantly European clones of grape varietals, tight spacing (6×3), and low vigor rootstock.

The crafting of our wines begins in the vineyard. At Mattebella Vineyards, we do things the old-fashioned way, by hand. Fine wines are difficult to make consistently if mechanized harvesters and other machines are introduced into the process. Machines simply cannot execute our commitment to quality and make the decisions we consistently must make throughout the growing season. Our hand crafting includes fruit thinning to ensure even ripening and higher quality concentrated juice, leaf pulling, weed removal, pruning, canopy management and, importantly, hand harvesting of all our fruit.

Mattebella Vineyards is committed to using sustainable viticultural practices, while incorporating as many organic practices as possible into our farming methods. We seek to find new solutions to old problems by maximizing the health of the vineyard. In committing to a healthy, responsible approach, we hope to make a footprint in your memory but not on the environment.

With a focus on growing and crafting quality wines on the North Fork of Long Island, Sannino Vineyard is owned and operated by Anthony and Lisa Sannino. The Sannino family started their North Fork journey in 2006 with the purchase of their 5-acre vineyard and homestead. The estate has grown to include their highly accredited two-room bed & breakfast as well as additional acreage for their tasting house.

Following suit, their daughters, Marisa and Miranda, have invested years of study to perfect their parents’ passion for viticulture, oenology and sommelier. The young ladies are excited to practice their newfound passion and share it with the wine community.

Hours of operation: noon – 6 p.m.

Varieties: chardonnay, cabernet franc, cabernet sauvignon, merlot, petit verdot
