Players can rescue Waddle Dees in every level of Kirby and the Forgotten Land. Here’s how to find them all in the fifth world's first stage.

Waddle Dees have been captured and scattered throughout the world in Kirby and the Forgotten Land. Players can rescue them by completing specific objectives in levels, such as finding secret areas or beating skill-based challenges. All of these rescued Waddle Dees return to Waddle Dee Town and begin to rebuild the town. As the town develops, players gain access to places like the colosseum and the weapons shop, where blueprints can be used to evolve copy abilities. Like the Waddle Dees, blueprints are found in each region, except for the Natural Plains.

Players can save a total of 49 Waddle Dees in the fifth world, the Originull Wastelands, nine of which can be found in this world's first level, The Wastes Where Life Began. Three are received by clearing the stage for the first time. Here's where to find the rest.

Players can earn a Waddle Dee by shooting three targets with the Ranger ability. All three targets are in the first part of the level, before taking the Warp Star. The first target is above the wall to the right of the snake guarding a treasure chest. The second target is to the left of the switches on rotating platforms, near the arrow pointing left. The third target is behind a pillar that falls once Kirby passes beneath its shadow, just before he passes the center path that leads to the Warp Star.

Players will find a lost Squishy in this level's first area, near the windmills. Defeating the Squishy will complete a secret task and reward players with a Waddle Dee.

Kirby can use Ring-Mouth to defeat Fleurina and complete a secret task for a Waddle Dee. However, Kirby cannot climb the ladder to reach the mini-boss while in Ring-Mouth form. Players will instead need to jump from the fallen pillar onto the tall rock in order to reach the top.

The first hidden Waddle Dee is found in the first area. Players must collect five green fragments to lower the gate guarding the Waddle Dee, which is found just past the Fleurina mini-boss. The first fragment is in the chest guarded by the snake. The second is found by activating the switches on the rotating platforms, and the third is in a chest buried in sand next to the ring Kirby can use. The fourth piece is earned by activating the windmills, and the final piece can be picked up after defeating Fleurina.

The second hidden Waddle Dee is in the level's second stage, after Kirby takes the Warp Star. This section is filled with falling pillars. Kirby can use Ring-Mouth on the first pillar that does not fall when he walks under its shadow in order to topple it and destroy the already-cracked ground.

Kirby can use Ring-Mouth again on the next pillar in the same section, this time revealing a secret doorway. Inside this secret room are more falling pillars, with a set that requires use of Ring-Mouth guarding the final hidden Waddle Dee.
