Marlon Wayans and Priah Ferguson team up to take on possessed Halloween decorations in the upcoming Netflix movie.

Netflix has released some first look images for The Curse of Bridge Hollow, a new film coming to the streaming platform in October just in time for the Halloween season. In the film, formerly titled Boo!, Marlon Wayans plays a father who teams up with his teenage daughter (Priah Ferguson, Stranger Things) to save their town by thwarting an ancient and mischievous spirit causing Halloween decorations to come to life and wreak havoc.

Jeff Wadlow directed the film using a screenplay by Todd Berger and Robert Rugan based on a story by Berger and John R. Morey. It is produced by Wayans, Rick Alvarez, and Nathan Reimann. Along with Wayans and Ferguson, The Curse of Bridge Hollow stars Kelly Rowland, Rob Riggle, John Michael Higgins, Nia Vardalos, Lauren Lapkus, Holly J. Barrett, Myles Vincent Perez, Abi Monterey, and Helen Slayton-Hughes.

A veteran actor, Wayans is known for frequently collaborating with his brothers on The Wayans Bros. along with a slew of comedy movies, such as Scary Movie, White Chicks, and Little Man. In recent years, he led his own sitcom Marlon and appeared in the Bel-Air reboot series on Peacock in addition to having roles in the films Sextuplets, On the Rocks, and Respect. He recently joined the cast of Ben Affleck's upcoming Nike movie.

Ferguson may be best known for her role as Erica Sinclair on the hit Netflix show Stranger Things. She has also appeared on the TV shows Mercy Street, Daytime Divas, and Bluff City Law. The rising star has also been seen in the black comedy movie The Oath.

“I love mixing comedy and horror,” Wayans said of starring in another horror-comedy film, something he seems to thrive in, via the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “You get to go horror, comedy, tension, tension, scare, then a joke.

On continuing his collaborations with Netflix, the actor added, "I like to work. They appreciate that I have a huge international audience.”

During production, Wayans had also spoken about the movie while appearing as a guest on late comedian Bob Saget's podcast, Bob Saget's Here for You. Wayans explained the story to Saget, noting how at the time it was tentatively titled Boo!, but he knew that the title would eventually change. Wayans also confirmed that the film wouldn't be as adult as many of his previous comedies.

"It's basically a father and daughter story about a dad who moves his family and 15-year-old daughter from Brooklyn to Massachusetts because he gets a job at a school, and the Halloween decorations in the city start coming to life," Wayans said, teasing a family-friendly film. "And him and his daughter have to work together to figure it out. It's a cute movie, it's not like A Haunted House, because it's very PG, PG-13. It's not like I'm going to go (expletive) a stuffed animal."

The Curse of Bridge Hollow is set to start streaming on Oct. 14, 2022, on Netflix.
